The extension follows an integrated and continuing approach, whereby the volumetry and roof of the existing building are continued in the existing typology. This means that the main motif of Jakob Eschenmoser's Sewenhütte will be retained even after the extension. The language is also retained, but a new form of expression is found through a contemporary, sustainable reinterpretation of the materiality. This approach creates a harmonious connection between the extension and the existing building, whereby the Eschenmoser hut retains its unmistakable identity while at the same time setting contemporary accents.
